| “Art
in an Envelope™ by Ottestry™
began as a way for me to share what I love to do—paint.
Each small work of art is painted by hand, which allows me to
try something slightly different with each card. Whether you are
giving or receiving Art in an Envelope, I hope you see
my greeting cards as an exclusive keepsake.”
I have a degree in Organizational Communications
and a minor in Graphic Design from the University of Nebraska
Kearney, but am mostly self-taught in painting. My preferred medium
is watercolor, as this is what I used when I began to paint greeting
cards for friends and family several years ago. Many recipients
of these cards have encouraged me to market them as small pieces
of art.
Greeting cards offer immediate gratification since
they can be completed in a short time, but I have also ventured
to paint larger pieces as well. These provide me with a chance
to use broader brushes, more paint and thick watercolor paper.
Painting small challenges me to paint large, and painting large
allows me to appreciate working small!
Currently, I live in O'Neill, Nebraska, and am proud
to be a member of the Ranchland Art Group, and a GROW Nebraska
Artist. (www.growneb.com).
These organizations have opened some welcoming doors for me, and
have led me to many wonderful people. I sincerely want to extend
a humble thank-you to all of those individuals – especially
family and close friends - who have guided and encouraged me to
continue doing what I love.
